Bitcoin and Ethereum are facing another crucial test as cryptocurrency markets head into the final week of October 2026. Bitcoin hovered around $80,700 on Saturday, October 24, while Ethereum traded near $2,370, reflecting cautious investor sentiment ahead of the Federal Reserve’s upcoming monetary policy decision.

After a volatile week for digital assets, traders are closely watching the $80,000 Bitcoin price area, institutional fund flows, and the broader economic outlook. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is scheduled to meet on October 27–28, potentially setting the tone for the next phase of crypto market volatility.

Here is what investors need to know about Bitcoin, Ethereum, spot ETF flows, and the major risks ahead.

Bitcoin Price Near $80,000 After a Volatile Week

Bitcoin traded near $80,700 on October 24, according to a market report published by The Economic Times. The cryptocurrency remained close to the widely watched $80,000 psychological level following a period of selling pressure across risk-sensitive assets.

Earlier in the week, Bitcoin briefly climbed above $83,000 as expectations of an immediate Federal Reserve interest rate increase eased. However, the recovery proved difficult to sustain as investors continued to assess inflation risks and broader market uncertainty.

A separate October 23 market report from Nexo placed Bitcoin around $81,700 and highlighted the impact of weakness in technology stocks, elevated oil prices, and shifting interest rate expectations.

The difference between these figures reflects changing market conditions and publication times. Cryptocurrency prices trade continuously, including during weekends.

Ethereum Holds Near $2,370 as Investors Remain Cautious

Ethereum also faced pressure, trading around $2,370 on October 24.

As the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Ethereum often responds to many of the same macroeconomic forces affecting Bitcoin. These include US monetary policy expectations, global liquidity, investor risk appetite, and changes in derivatives positioning.

Nexo’s October 23 market commentary noted defensive positioning in Ether options, suggesting that some market participants were seeking protection against potential downside volatility.

However, options positioning does not guarantee that Ethereum will decline. It is one indicator among several that traders use to assess market sentiment.

Bitcoin ETF Flows Show Mixed Institutional Demand

Institutional investment flows have become a major focus for Bitcoin traders.

According to Nexo’s October 23 market report, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded more than $1 billion in combined inflows during the first three trading sessions of the week.

That momentum was interrupted by approximately $635 million in net outflows on Thursday, October 22.

Despite the sharp daily withdrawal, the report indicated that the week’s net inflows remained positive at approximately $442 million.

These figures illustrate an important distinction: a large daily ETF outflow does not necessarily mean the entire week experienced net selling.

For investors, the key question is whether institutional demand becomes more consistent or continues to alternate between inflows and outflows.

Why the Federal Reserve’s October 28 Decision Matters

The Federal Reserve’s next monetary policy meeting is scheduled for October 27–28, 2026, according to the central bank’s official calendar.

Market commentary published ahead of the meeting suggested that investors largely expected the Fed to leave interest rates unchanged. Nevertheless, the accompanying policy statement and press conference could significantly influence expectations for December and beyond.

Cryptocurrencies are sensitive to changing financial conditions because higher borrowing costs and tighter liquidity can reduce investors’ willingness to hold volatile assets.

Conversely, expectations of less restrictive monetary policy may improve sentiment toward Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other risk-sensitive investments.

However, crypto prices do not always react predictably to Federal Reserve announcements. Market positioning, inflation data, equity performance, and unexpected economic developments can all affect the outcome.

Three Factors Driving Crypto Market Volatility

    1. Interest Rate Expectations

Investors are evaluating whether the Federal Reserve will maintain its current policy stance or signal additional tightening later in the year.

A more hawkish outlook could increase pressure on cryptocurrencies by strengthening expectations for restrictive financial conditions.

    2. Technology Stock Performance

Bitcoin has recently shown sensitivity to moves in US technology shares.

Nexo reported that the cryptocurrency’s decline during the week coincided with a technology-led equity selloff. This highlights how Bitcoin can behave like a risk asset during periods of financial-market stress.

    3. ETF Flows and Leverage

Spot Bitcoin ETF inflows can support market sentiment, but inconsistent demand may increase uncertainty.

Meanwhile, leveraged trading positions can amplify short-term price movements when liquidations accelerate.

Monitoring both institutional flows and derivatives activity may provide a broader picture of market conditions than price movements alone.

Bitcoin Price Outlook: Can BTC Hold $80,000?

The $80,000 region has become an important psychological reference for Bitcoin traders.

    Bullish Scenario

If Bitcoin maintains support around $80,000 and institutional demand improves, traders may look for a recovery toward the $82,000–$83,000 region seen earlier in the week.

A more supportive macroeconomic environment could strengthen that recovery, although sustained gains would still require confirmation from price action.

    Bearish Scenario

If Bitcoin falls decisively below $80,000, market sentiment could weaken further.

Additional selling pressure might emerge if technology stocks decline, ETF outflows continue, or the Federal Reserve adopts a more hawkish tone than investors anticipate.

    Neutral Scenario

Bitcoin could also consolidate around current levels while traders wait for the Federal Reserve meeting.

Sideways trading ahead of major economic events is possible, but it does not guarantee a breakout in either direction.

Ethereum Price Outlook: What Could Move ETH Next?

For Ethereum, the area around $2,370 provides a useful reference based on October 24 market reporting.

A broader recovery in cryptocurrency sentiment could help ETH regain momentum. However, weaker risk appetite or continued defensive derivatives positioning could limit upside progress.

Investors should monitor Ethereum’s performance relative to Bitcoin, trading volumes, and the market’s response to upcoming US economic data.

Unlike a confirmed technical support level, the reported $2,370 price is simply a reference point from the latest available market snapshot.

What Crypto Investors Should Watch Next Week

    • October 27–28: Federal Reserve FOMC meeting and monetary policy announcement.
    • Bitcoin near $80,000: Watch whether the psychological price area holds or breaks.
    • Ethereum near $2,370: Monitor changes in momentum and broader market sentiment.
    • Spot Bitcoin ETF flows: Look for sustained institutional inflows or renewed outflows.
    • US technology stocks: Watch for changes in risk appetite.
    • Inflation and bond yields: Assess how economic data affects expectations for future interest rates.

Final Thoughts: A Critical Week for Bitcoin and Ethereum

Bitcoin and Ethereum enter the final week of October under pressure as investors balance institutional demand against macroeconomic uncertainty.

Bitcoin’s ability to remain near or above $80,000, Ethereum’s performance around $2,370, and the Federal Reserve’s October 28 announcement will be important developments to monitor.

Although recent volatility has created uncertainty, neither a sustained recovery nor a deeper correction is guaranteed.

For now, investors should pay close attention to economic developments, spot ETF flows, and broader financial-market sentiment.
